Hunter's Journey
When 12-year old Hunter arrived at Northstar, he struggled with reading.
The daunting task of differentiating sounds left him feeling defeated. With specialized reading classes and support from dedicated teachers, Hunter’s journey took a transformative turn.
“His growth is remarkable,” said his teacher, “he had so much anxiety at first, and now he’s not afraid.” Hunter jumped two and a half grade levels in reading comprehension in just six months.
Most importantly, Hunter’s confidence has soared. Instead of shutting down when faced with text, he feels motivated to try reading not only simple sentences, but more advanced paragraphs as well.
“He feels comfortable, he’s learning, he has friends,” said Hunter’s mother about her son’s time at Northstar. “His teachers really care. And he knows they care.”
