Northstar's Transformative Capital Campaign

Northstar Gym Rendering

About the Campaign

Northstar sees students for who they are today and who they can become tomorrow. As Northstar looks toward its own future, we seek to create a school that provides the best possible learning environment.

To realize this vision, in 2020 the Board of Directors launched a Capital Campaign to support the acquisition of a new facility and campus site.

Excitingly, a property fitting the diverse needs of our School community was identified in 2021, and a year later in September 2022, we officially opened our doors to students at Nuckols Road. At last our Academic and Career Center campuses have been merged into one location.

In addition to EDC, Baskervill, and Youngblood Tyler, CT Purcell is working to complete our track and field. We’ve also hired RVA Construction to build our gymnasium and community center. We are on target to open the new space in the fall of 2024.

We are currently fundraising for the last $1.4M to finish the approximately 15,000 sq ft gymnasium and community room.

The gymnasium will be used daily for physical education classes. In addition, it will allow us to host school assemblies and performances, as well as graduations on campus. We are excited to be one of the first in our area to install a hearing loop in the floor that will help those with hearing impairments.

We invite you to be a part of the campaign by making a meaningful gift.

Your Gift Matters

At Northstar, we provide educational excellence and career opportunities for students with disabilities who have academic, physical, and social challenges.

Northstar empowers students to value their diverse abilities, chart a successful course for their lives, and create their own futures. We cultivate communities where people of all abilities thrive.

With a strong spirit of community, we develop students with active, creative minds and encourage compassion and a respect and understanding for individual differences and for one another.

Because of friends like you, Northstar provides our students with a path filled with hope for a meaningful life as a contributing community member. Your gift will transform lives and empower our students to embark on a journey to a world full of possibilities.
