Race to the Finish – Help Us Complete Northstar’s Track & Playing Field!

We’re in the final stretch! Thanks to our incredible donors, we have raised $12.6 million toward our $13.6 million goal to relocate Northstar, build a new gym, and create our first ever track and playing field for our students.

With just under 9% left to raise by June 30, 2025, we need your help to cross the finish line!

Every gift—big or small—brings us closer to giving our students a space where they can run, move, and thrive.  Moreover, physical activity is scientifically proven to improve cognitive function, reduce anxiety, and enhance social skills—benefits that are critical for students with disabilities.

We invite each of you to find what role you will play in the final months of the campaign.

$1,000,000 – Name the track
$25,000 – Name a classroom
$10,000 – Provide a communication board
$5,000 – Provide a bench on campus
$2,000 – Plant a new tree for shade and beauty

With our new gym opening April 25, the track and playing field will be the final piece of this transformational project.

Thank you to the many alumni, parents, and friends who have already contributed. Your generosity strengthens Northstar’s legacy and ensures an extraordinary future for generations of students. As we approach the end of this campaign, will you consider making a gift or pledge today?

Let’s Race to the Finish—together!

Campaign Overview

Northstar sees students for who they are today and who they can become tomorrow. As Northstar looks toward its own future, we seek to create a school that provides the best possible learning environment.

To realize this vision, in 2020 the Board of Directors launched a Capital Campaign to support the acquisition of a new facility and campus site.

Excitingly, a property fitting the diverse needs of our School community was identified in 2021, and a year later in September 2022, we officially opened our doors to students at Nuckols Road. At last our Academic and Career Center campuses have been merged into one location.

In addition to EDC, Baskervill, and Youngblood Tyler, CT Purcell is working to complete our track and field. We’ve also hired RVA Construction to build our gymnasium and community center. We are on target to open the new space in the fall of 2024.

We are currently fundraising for the last $1.1M to finish the approximately 15,000 sq ft gymnasium and community room.

The gymnasium will be used daily for physical education classes. In addition, it will allow us to host school assemblies and performances, as well as graduations on campus. We are excited to be one of the first in our area to install a hearing loop in the floor that will help those with hearing impairments.

Your support is directly helping Northstar promote educational excellence and career opportunities for students with disabilities.  We couldn’t do it without you.

Thank you to all our amazing donors who have already supported the campaign.
