A Growing Legacy
Endowments ensure the school’s financial health by creating income in perpetuity by:
- Providing programming that prepares our students for their future
- Providing financial assistance to attract more qualified students
- Supporting our faculty and staff with robust professional development
Northstar Endowment
Northstar’s endowment is the foundation of the school’s long-term stability and success, enhancing the educational program, supporting faculty compensation and professional development, increasing financial aid, and providing financial stability in times of economic uncertainty. Funds generated from these gifts, large and small, allow donors to leave a legacy.
Watson Wright Scholarship Fund
The Watson H. Wright Endowed Scholarship honors the legacy of a longtime Northstar friend, board member, donor, and champion of students with disabilities. Watson served on the Northstar Board of Directors from 2018 through 2021, including as Treasurer, and played an important role in the early phases of Northstar’s capital campaign and move to the Nuckols Road campus. His thoughtful leadership, generosity, and belief in Northstar helped shape the school’s future and create opportunities for students and families. Established by Watson’s family and friends, the endowed scholarship will provide financial assistance to students and families who need support to make a Northstar education possible. Through this scholarship, Watson’s commitment to Northstar and its students will continue for generations to come.
Pat West Legacy Fund
Officially created by the Northstar Board of Directors in 2018, this fund allows Northstar to honor an outstanding staff member with an Excellence in Education award. The award is a lasting commemorative to Dr. Patricia West, former Head of School. Dr. West was a lifelong advocate for special education and made a significant impact on Northstar, both the students and staff. She served as Head of School for over 13 years.
